So sorry if this is somewhere feel free to point me.
Semi experienced on both 2.5 and 3.0

My intended work flow is that I record on tr1 and switch and into time copy overdub when switching tracks, occasionally want to have tho 1 bar recorded track 1, then on tr2 4 bars, from there when I switch for it to copy time of tr2, but always reverts to tr1 loop size.

I can force leader and it works to sync tr3 and beyond to 2, but track 2 stops quant and sync with 1 and becomes free: or if I use Mastertracksync and also the one that's supposed to copy time from track on the left and Nothing works for me, what am I missing?

Do you have the same default quantization configuration across all your tracks? Or do you run separate settings for 1 and 2?

I've tried both ways setting default parameters usually, should I try per track instead

It might help to see your default settings under Sessions>Switch and Sessions>Advanced Sync. Screenshot if you can?

I think it’d be logical to have the right default configuration first, and then use the scripts to override them how you want.

To fix track2 not syncing to track1 after it becomes the leader, make sure to set your Sync Record Unit = Leader Loop for track1 and any other track than track2.

Then, if you can't begin a recording on track1 after those settings, go to Advanced Sync and adjust Sync Record Unit Fallback to whatever you want it to be when that track is empty.

I think the trick for your setup lies somewhere between those two settings. You kinda have to imagine where you want the default to be with the fallback settings and then go from there.

So, think about how you want to start Track1 recording first: when there is no leader, how do you want it to start the initial recording? That's your Sync Record Unit Fallback setting. Then, when there is a leader (track2 in this case), how do you want track1 to quantize to track2? That's where you would want Sync Record Unit = Leader Loop under the session Sync settings for track1, if that makes sense.

One other thing: make sure in Leader/Master Auto Select that Leader Acceptance = Never except for Track2. Otherwise, other tracks will try to become the leader (even though 2 is fixed). For Track2, set Leader Acceptance = Preferred just to be safe.

Sorry a bit scattered here are some of my 2.5 settings I have 3 off right now as it kept crashing on me when I set loop quantize

No worries! Everything I mentioned having to do with leader and fallback are in b47 exclusively. I’m not sure how this idea would theoretically work in anything earlier 🤷‍♂️

Thank you I think you Def helped me I may re-download b47 again I was just testing if I had same quirk of setting 2 as leader but 1 always being copied

I was probably unclear about my desired goals as well, let me try to explain again:

Track 1 free record if I press record it starts recording(or waits for sound/threshold) and when I stop record it makes 1 bar, setting the Sync and Quant times, if I switch to track 2 and hit record, I'd like it to Sync with 1s time, but I can do 4 bars, stop recording and it will quantize with the end timing of track 1, and then when I switch to track 3 it will copy the length of track 2 instead of track 1.

My workaround right now is shown in the video, if I make a recording on 3 and then go to track 4 somehow it knows and makes the right length I want like what I want to happen going from 2-3

Though to be honest I might be chasing my tail for no reason, that workaround totally works and also gives me flexibility if I do want another track of 1s length I have it already set to do that

That's good to hear. To be honest, I'm not sure where I'd be able to help, but I’d stick with it if you find a way that works!
